Stephanie H.Greene Memorial Scholarship

 

The  Town and Country Garden Club of Libertyville is a club serving Libertyville, Illinois through civic plantings, education, and charitable endeavors. The club promotes conservation and beautification of our community. Our members encourage intellectual development and appreciation of our environment for ourselves as well as our community.

 

Purpose of the Scholarship Program:

 

Stephanie Greene was a past president of the Town and Country Garden Club of Libertyville and past president of the Garden Clubs of Illinois. She was a National Garden Club accredited master judge. She was generous, thoughtful, and kind; generous with her wisdom born both of education and of experience. She loved the educational aspect of our club’s projects, and the educational opportunities the Garden Clubs of Illinois afforded. 

 

The Scholarship, in memory of this remarkable woman, offers financial aid to students pursuing a course of study in Horticulture, Floriculture, Landscape Design, Botany, Plant Pathology, Forestry, Agronomy, Environmental studies, or related fields. Applicants must be majoring in one of these fields of study.

 

The Stephanie  H. Greene Scholarship award is for $2000.

 

Eligibility:

 

• Graduating high school senior, current college student or adult learner returning to school

• Residents of Libertyville or neighboring Lake County, IL communities such as Vernon Hills, Mundelein, Lake Forest, Grayslake, North Chicago, Gurnee, or Waukegan

• Planning to attend or already enrolled in a U.S.-accredited two or four-year college beginning Fall 2026

• Majoring in an eligible field related to horticulture or environmental studies.

Application Process:

 

1. Use the links on this page to access the google form application or download fillable .pdf application. Both are acceptable.

2. Include one letter of recommendation from a source other than a relative, who can describe your character to be submitted directly from the source to towncountryscholarship@gmail.com. 

3. Letters of recommendation subject line should read:  Stephanie Greene Scholarship - (applicant last name). 

4. All applications and recommendations must be received by March 31, 2026.

 

Selection Process:

 

• Applications must be received no later than the deadline date of March 31, 2026.

• Applications received after that date will NOT be considered.

• Applications must include all required information.

• All applicants will be notified of their status regarding the final selection.
