The Town & Country Garden Club of Libertyville, a member of National Garden Clubs, Inc., and Garden Clubs of Illinois, is a welcoming garden club dedicated to education, conservation, civic beautification, and community service. Members design, plant, and maintain gardens and seasonal containers at Cook Memorial Library, Cook Mansion, the Libertyville Civic Center, and the Metra Station. We also care for the Civic Center Memorial Butterfly Garden, the Blue Star Memorial Garden in Cook Park, and the Pollinator Garden at Cook Library’s north entrance.
Each spring, we plant containers with local seniors. All members also help organize and sell tickets for our annual fundraiser, the Hidden Gems Garden Walk, held on the fourth Saturday in June. Proceeds support our civic projects, educational programs, charitable giving, and scholarships for area students pursuing horticulture, environmental science, and related fields.
We meet during the day on the first Wednesday of each month from March through December, usually in members’ homes. Meetings include a horticultural or environmental presentation, a creative hands-on project, or a field trip, followed by a business meeting and a meal prepared by a small team of members.
No special gardening expertise is required—just an enthusiasm for gardening and nature, a desire to learn, and a willingness to participate and share your talents with a wonderful group of women.
